BENEO-Group launches new initiative at FiEurope 2009

The BENEO-Group will launch the BENEO-Institute at this year’s FiEurope (FiE). Brought to life to fulfil BENEO-Group’s aim of ‘Connecting Nutrition and Health’, the Institute has been established to provide BENEO-Group’s customers and partners access to expertise from all three business units; BENEO-Orafti, BENEO-Palatinit and BENEO-Remy. Customers will benefit from the latest research in nutritional science and advice on claims and other regulatory affairs topics that range from prebiotics over functional sugar to rice derivates.

Supporting a healthy lifestyle and a prevention-oriented diet is the focus of the BENEO-Institute. The key nutritional topics that will form the basis of the BENEO-Institute’s work include weight management, digestive health, physical and mental performance, the effects of a low glycemic diet in the context of healthy eating and disease prevention as well as dental health.

Working with an international network of scientists from various universities, research institutes and food industry partners, the BENEO-Group will draw from long-term experience to create a sound scientific basis, promote innovation in health and nutrition and highlight the added value functional ingredients provide to consumers.

The new BENEO-Institute will consist of three teams of specialists selected from life science, nutrition communication and legislation/regulatory affairs divisions, supported by further internal experts including food technologists or chemists and experts from the BENEO-Institute global network.

The BENEO-Institute will act as an advisory body for customers and partners for the entire product development process, from ingredient approval, nutritional composition, physiological effects to communication and labelling questions. A combination of insight, high profile scientific research and the BENEO-Group’s impressive heritage in developing ingredients that offer technical, nutritional and health benefits, will enable the BENEO-Group’s pioneering customers and partners to remain at the forefront of the food and beverage industry.

The BENEO-Group is the ideal partner for those looking to create products which promote weight management and digestive, bone and dental health. During FiE, the BENEO-Group will present for the first time a completely new approach by showing the use of all its ingredients in solution platforms embracing confectionery, bakery and cereals, beverages, baby food and dairy.

  • Reviewing the market potential for natural ingredients: “New Natural and Functional Ingredients” by Rudy Wouters, Senior Head of Food Applications, BENEO-Group
  • Developing beverages that boost energy management:  “Beverage Applications” by Dr. Stephan Hausmanns, Head of Product Management, BENEO-Palatinit
