Energy Metabolism of Functional Carbohydrates: New Findings

Obesity is increasingly viewed as a serious and growing public health problem since excessive body weight has been shown to predispose to various diseases. The 1st European BENEO Scientific Symposium will give you more insight on the impact of Functional Carbohydrates on Energy Metabolism.

Carbohydrates are the major part of our daily diet. However, up to now, not much attention has been given to the diversity of their physiological effects, depending on the specific type of carbohydrate. The same is true for dietary fibres.

This symposium will take a closer look at the physiology of functional carbohydrates, including prebiotic dietary fibres, particularly the benefits some of them have in energy metabolism. Topics such as glycemic response and prolonged energy release, sports nutrition, appetite and food intake regulation, and body weight management will be discussed.
The Symposium will bring together a panel of international experts and scientists, working in the area of functional carbohydrates and prebiotics, and their interaction with energy metabolism and health. They will provide reviews and present the latest research findings. Nutritionists, dieticians, health practitioners, food scientists and researchers will be attending this fruitful meeting.

The Symposium is organised by the BENEO-Group, the functional ingredients division of the SÜDZUCKER GROUP.

Participation is strictly on invitation.
